Thanks Arma51,Minos, and Icem4n Very Happy

I have more questions! Confused

In Steel Beasts Pro with the M1A1 (HA) Abrams I usually

1) Acquire and identify the target
2) Select Sabot or Heat round
3) Track the target
4) Lase the target (to acquire distance)
5) Fire on the target
6) Dump the lead
7) Then I repeat the cycle if i have to

How do you engage a target in the Leclerc? What steps would you follow?

On the leclerc we follow the same steps ( thoses steps are follow for all MBT ).The loading time is one of the differences you can find.On leclerc, during thoses steps, the commander look for another target. When the first one is destroy,he only need to take the control of the turret, and this one is adjusted directly to the second target. So the gunner only need to adjust is sight, select ammunition ,load, lase the target and shoot.

Thanks ARMA51 for the info !   What is the average fire rate of the leclerc? Is it really 10-12 shots per minute?

How do you think the M1A1 (HA) and Leopard 2a4 compares to the Leclerc (series 1, 2, 3) ?

In theory 10 shots per minute is possible, but in practice 6 shots per minutes is a good average .For shooting 10 target per minute, you'll need hundreds of target in front of you,so the acquisition time will be short.

Compare to the other MBT , the leclerc powerpack for the french version, (the U.A.E version,is an MTU powerpack. This one is not exactly the Leopard's one but they are similar ) is more powerfull then leopard and M1A1,even if the maximums speed are approximately the sames.
For the turret, the leclerc's one is fully stabilized, this is not right for the leopard and the M1A1.The leclerc can shoot while moving at 50km/H a target wich is situated at a maximum range of 4000 meters .

The leclerc is the first 3rd generation MBT,M1 and Leopard are from 2nd generation. It's difficult to compare. But I think the leclerc is the better for now.

I Went to D.C. yesterday and they had a military exhibit  there featuring the M2A2  and M1A2 SEP. When i asked one of the tankers bout how the Leclerc and Leopard 2a6 compares to the Abrams I was told that the Abrams is still the best tank in the world.  Rolling Eyes

Of course it's normal, each tanker must think is MBT is the best,it's very important when they go fighting with them. The differences between leclerc,M1 and leopard are not so important.Normally they'll fight together, not against Rolling Eyes .So we can consider they're similar.50% of they're value is due to the crew,it's also very important.

The only way to know wich MBT is the best is to test them,on the same field, with the same crew. For the armor it's the same problem. Each MBT need to be test ( shoot )with the same ammunition.

This is the only way to really know Wink .

Nice photos Okay ,if you have more don't hesite to post them Mr. Green .

Okay, back after 700km in the morning!

For the Leclerc's armor, I won't say anything, because I'm not really aware of what's in use in other MBTs (except for the M1, thanks to Dejawolf)

I really like the leclerc for the redundancy of the TC's and gunner's controls, if you compare the gunner's and the Tank Commander's controls, they are all the same (handlebars plus pannels).
The fact that the TC has handlebars as it is on the leclerc can be really useful for accuracy (it is how I fell it).
Basically, if you've bought the new version of Steel Beasts, we can say that the fire control system is nearly the same as the FCS of the Leopardo 2E. The few differences are that the TC (on the Leclerc) can take control of the turret more quickly by pressing the buttons to unlock the turret (for the gunner). It's easy and very quick to do that (I tried the Leclerc's simulator as a TC and basically, it's awesome!

For SB, I've heard that additional tanks could be added if the development team has spare time (wich is not that simple with all the military work they have to do...)
Dejawolf made a first 3D model of the Leclerc for SB (see my avatare), and on TankNet, he gathered some data about the Leclerc's armor.
I'm really looking forward to see a french tank on SB, just for fun!

To compare the different version of the Leclerc and of the Leo, I'll need time, but roughly I can say that the Leclerc série I is above the Leo 2A4, but latest series of both tanks are really close each other. Maybe will I place the Leclerc above the Leo, because the native stabilisation of the turret is a great advantage, I've read that the Leopard HELL and STRV122 had problems with the unbalanced turret armor wich made the turret ring cracking (cf. TankNet)
But I'm not a military, so that mean nothing because there is surely other stuff that I'm missing to really be fair.

Thanks for the pics!
